Susan Cunningham

Susan is a silk and textile artist whose lifelong creativity naturally evolved into a passion for hand-painted silk. Rooted in years of sewing, knitting, baking, and exploring craft in many forms, her work reflects both technical curiosity and a deep appreciation for quality.

After a long and fulfilling career as a dental hygienist and raising three children, Susan found herself at a new and open chapter. It was in this season of life that her creative pursuits moved to the foreground — and in 2014, she discovered silk painting. The medium was a revelation: colour, movement, and intuition meeting on natural fibres in ways that felt both freeing and deeply satisfying. Susan continues to expand her skills through workshops, travel, and engagement with artist communities. She is an active member of Silk Painters International (SPIN), Kindred Spirits Artisans of Paris, and the annual Christmas in Paris show.

From her studio in Paris, Ontario, she creates one-of-a-kind scarves, wall art, textiles, and wearable pieces—each shaped by intention, experimentation, and a commitment to lifelong learning.

Radiant Silk

Radiant Silk Studio is the creative home of Susan Cunningham’s silk and textile practice—a space where colour, technique, and exploration guide the work. Dedicated to the art of hand-painted silk, the studio blends traditional methods with ongoing experimentation, using high-quality dyes, resist techniques, layered colour, and careful craftsmanship.

The studio’s work ranges from expressive wall pieces and wearable scarves to lamps, home décor, and custom commissions. It is a place where ideas evolve through practice, where curiosity leads the process, and where each piece is made slowly and intentionally—one at a time.

Radiant Silk also connects to a broader creative community, sharing resources, workshops, and inspiration through local artisan groups and international silk-painting networks. It is a workspace shaped by ongoing learning, handcrafted values, and the joy of bringing beauty to everyday life.
